Elmwood Park Zoo Offering Free Admission on Three Summer Holidays as Part of America 250

NORRISTOWN, Pa. (May 11, 2026) — Elmwood Park Zoo will offer free admission on Memorial Day, the Fourth of July, and Labor Day this summer as part of the nationwide America 250 initiative, inviting the community to celebrate three iconic holidays at the Zoo.

Each of the three days will feature live music, drink specials, animal encounters, and other activities designed to give guests a full day of things to see and do—and as always at Elmwood Park Zoo, parking is free. Guests can register for their free tickets at elmwoodparkzoo.org/free-holiday

“This is a great way for us to give something back to the community while celebrating what makes these holidays meaningful,” said Al Zone, CEO of Elmwood Park Zoo. “We’re excited to open our doors to everyone and create a place where people can spend time together, enjoy the Zoo, and connect with nature.”

The series begins on Memorial Day, which will serve as the unofficial kickoff to summer at the Zoo.

Guests can expect a lively atmosphere throughout the day, with entertainment, animal experiences, and seasonal offerings across the grounds.

Local brewery Bald Birds Brewing Company will be onsite pouring Founding Feathers, a new collaboration beer created with the Zoo. The double dry-hopped pilsner will be available for guests 21+ looking to enjoy a drink while they explore.

Members of the Daughters of the American Revolution will also be at the Zoo handing out American flags to guests in recognition of the holiday.

The Zoo’s participation in America 250 is supported by the Valley Forge Tourism & Convention Board (VFTCB).

Elmwood Park Zoo Reopens February 28; Spring Season Begins with Expanded March Schedule

Norristown, PA (February 25, 2026) — Elmwood Park Zoo will officially reopen to the public beginning Saturday, February 28 and Sunday, March 1, welcoming guests back for the first time this season. Following opening weekend, the Zoo will operate Wednesday through Sunday throughout March from 10 AM to 4 PM.

After several weeks of winter construction and weather-related delays, the Zoo is reopening its gates to allow guests to once again enjoy time outdoors with wildlife as the region begins to transition into spring.

While guests will see progress underway throughout the Zoo, construction on exhibit renovations and guest experience enhancements will continue into the coming weeks as crews complete improvements that were slowed by wintry conditions.

“Our team has made tremendous progress despite challenging winter weather,” said Al Zone, CEO at Elmwood Park Zoo. “While some projects are still underway, we didn’t want to delay welcoming families back to the Zoo as we head toward milder days. We’re excited to reopen and continue building new experiences throughout the spring.”

All memberships were automatically extended during the temporary closure period to ensure members receive full value.

To kick off the reopening, Elmwood Park Zoo will also host special programming throughout March and April — including exclusive member opportunities.

NORRISTOWN, PA — Elmwood Park Zoo is adding a brand-new dose of holiday magic to Wild Lights presented by Danella with the debut of its newest festive attraction: The Christmas Cows presented by KeyBank. Guests will have the chance to meet Scooby and Shaggy, the Zoo’s adorable miniature highland cows, who will be all dressed up in their most charming holiday gear for the season.

NORRISTOWN, PA – Elmwood Park Zoo’s most dazzling holiday tradition is back — and brighter than ever. Wild Lights presented by Danella, the Zoo’s beloved seasonal spectacular, returns on select nights from November 21 through December 30, transforming the zoo grounds into a winter wonderland filled with millions of twinkling lights, illuminated animals, and festive cheer for the whole family.

The Zoo is proud to announce Danella Companies, Inc., as the new presenting sponsor of Wild Lights, entering into a multi-year partnership that will illuminate the zoo and the community for years to come.
