Position:  Guest Services Representative – Fall/Winter

Pay: $15.00/hour
Reports to: Guest Services Management Team
Schedule: Must be able to work at least 20 hours per week. Must be able to work weekends, holidays and during school breaks. Schedule varies and is dependent on weather and guest attendance; schedule subject to change and may require late shift hours.

Summary of Responsibilities:

This position requires a friendly, customer-focused individual that helps to provide an excellent visitor experience. Associates are often the first point of contact for guests and are responsible for greeting visitors, answering questions, selling tickets, and assisting with parties, events and programs. Associates must have terrific communication skills, an upbeat demeanor, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. 

  • Assist the Zoo in fostering an appreciation of wildlife and their habitats that will inspire active participation in conservation.
  • Assist management in ensuring safety, cleanliness, and efficiency in all areas of the operation of the Zoo.
  • Treat all information entrusted or known by you regarding guests, animals, business, employees, volunteers, incidents, and any other sensitive information confidentially.
  • Communicate effectively with both adults and children in both group and individual settings. Always greet guests and exercise professionalism.
  • Follow and adhere to all policies and procedures.
  • This position will help facilitate our seasonal programming, which requires both daytime and evening shifts.
  • This position operates in a variety of roles throughout the zoo, must be able to work indoors and outdoors for extended periods of time in all weather conditions.
  • This seasonal role will run through the end of the calendar year 12/31/2025.
  • Handle all in-park ticket sales
  • Handle all membership inquiries, and engage with all park guests to promote annual membership benefits
  • Support the overall Guest Services Department front line operation which may include – processing park ticket sales, scanning tickets, facilitating entry into the park attractions, and line control.
  • Operation of point-of-sale systems
  • Being attentive to all guest needs stated and implied
  • Providing engaging and supportive service to all guests
  • Assist with working, operating, and executing programming
  • Prior cash handling experience required
  • Prior sales experience preferred
  • Conflict resolution and de-escalation skills required
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to remain composed and attentive when interacting with the public
  • Ability to start conversations
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time
  • Ability to lift and/or move 20-50 pounds
  • Comfortable being exposed to cold and hot weather conditions
  • Ability to work well within a team and independently
  • Ability to handle cash and operate point of sale system
  • Meets the needs and expectations of the role, as per business requires
  • Must be able to pass background and child abuse clearances
  • Two forms of official valid identification are required
