Norristown, PA (January 30, 2026) — Elmwood Park Zoo today announced that it will remain closed to the public through February as the Zoo continues renovations on exhibits and guest experience enhancements that began in January. Due to wintry weather delays, the additional time will help ensure that improvements are completed safely and thoroughly ahead of the upcoming season.

The temporary closure extension underscores the Zoo’s commitment to delivering high-quality, engaging experiences for visitors of all ages. These renovations and experiences are made possible through the generosity of members, donors, and supporters. Donations help strengthen conservation efforts, enhance animal care, and create meaningful guest experiences. Guests can look forward to a refreshed experience and the arrival of new species to the Zoo’s collection, all designed to deepen connections between guests and wildlife. Additional details — including species announcements — will be revealed in the coming weeks on the Zoo website and social media accounts.

Member Experience & Continued Programming
Elmwood Park Zoo recognizes the importance of membership value — and to ensure members continue to receive full benefit, all active memberships will be automatically extended for the full duration of the closure, including February.

While the Zoo remains closed to general public visitation, it is continuing a robust slate of special programming opportunities for members throughout February — plus events open to non-members such as Winterfest Weekend, which offers seasonal activities and entertainment.

“Our members and supporters have been incredibly patient and generous, and we want to make sure every visit feels like it was worth the wait,” said Al Zone, CEO at Elmwood Park Zoo. “Extending memberships and offering engaging programming while our teams complete this work is a way to show our gratitude and keep everyone connected to the Zoo while we build what’s next.”

Elmwood Park Zoo plans to reopen to the public in early March, weather and construction progress permitting.
