Camp Information
Accommodations & Accessibility
At Zoo Camp, our goal is to create a safe, enjoyable, and enriching experience for all campers. Zoo Camp is unique compared to many day camps, as it takes place in a highly stimulating environment. While at camp, campers will engage in activities that require them to:
- Spend their day actively moving outdoors
- Follow directions in a large group setting
- Stay with and collaborate within their group during activities
- Manage their personal needs, such as using the bathroom independently
Due to these factors, Zoo Camp may not be the best fit for every camper. However, we are committed to working with families to prepare accommodations in advance to help ensure a successful and enjoyable experience for your child.
If you believe your camper may benefit from accommodations, please email camp@elmwoodparkzoo.org before registration. While we are unable to provide one-on-one support or supplementary services, aides are welcome to join campers onsite after submitting PA Background and Child Abuse clearances.
Behavioral Policy
At ZooCamp, we prioritize creating a fun and safe environment for all campers. Bullying, violent, destructive, or offensive behavior will not be tolerated. Camp staff reserve the right to remove campers from activities as necessary due to their behavior.
To ensure open communication, we will provide a take-home report for any behavioral issues that occur during the day. This report is intended to keep parents informed and aware.
If a second take-home report is issued, the Camp Coordinator will contact the camper’s emergency contact to discuss ongoing concerns.
If a third take-home report is required, or if a single incident is severe, the Camp Coordinator will determine whether the camper’s return to ZooCamp is appropriate. The Camp Coordinator and Education Department have the authority to dismiss campers from ZooCamp based on the severity and continuation of behavioral issues.
If you have any questions about our policy, please email us at camp@elmwoodparkzoo.org.
Refund Policy
Purchases made during our holiday sales in December 2025 and School’s Out Day Camps are excluded and not eligible for any refund.
