Dense vegetation that extends over slow-moving water sources. Found in the tropical rain forests of South America. Populations are widespread in Guyana, Colombia, Brazil, Ecuador and Peru.
Identification
Adult frogs are light grey in colour with brown or black banding, while young frogs will show stronger contrasts. Older frogs develop a slightly bumpy texture on their skin.
Diet
Various insects and small invertebrates, such as crickets, roaches, moths, and worms.
Reproduction & Lifespan
They reproduce during the rainy season (November–May), with females laying 1,000–2,500+ eggs in water-filled tree cavities, which hatch within 24 hours. Have a lifespan of approximately 5 to 25 years, often living longer in captivity.

These frogs are sometimes referred to as the blue milk frog due to a sticky, milk-like substance that they produce when feeling threatened.
