NORRISTOWN, Pa. (August 31, 2026) — Elmwood Park Zoo is inviting the community to close out the summer with a free day at the Zoo. On Labor Day, Monday, September 7, all guests will receive free admission and free parking from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Zoo members will receive an extra perk with early access beginning at 9 a.m., giving members an additional hour to explore the Zoo before gates open to the general public.

Guests can also enjoy live music from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m,. while spending the holiday visiting the Zoo’s animals and exploring everything that has been added throughout the summer.

“Labor Day is one of those final opportunities for families to spend a day together before summer officially comes to a close, and we’re excited to open our gates and welcome everyone to experience the Zoo for free,” said Al Zone, CEO of Elmwood Park Zoo. “Being part of this community means a great deal to us, and days like this allow us to make the Zoo accessible to even more families while giving them the opportunity to see all of the exciting things happening here.”

The free admission day gives visitors an opportunity to check out several of the Zoo’s newest additions, including Pallas’s cats, red foxes and a gray fox, along with the newly themed ‘The Defenders’ exhibit, which highlights the unique ways animals protect and defend themselves through comic book illustrations.

Labor Day also marks one of the final opportunities for guests to visit North American river otters Piper and Jet before the pair departs Elmwood Park Zoo for a new home as the Zoo prepares for future renovations in their current area.

Admission and parking are free for all guests on Labor Day, but advance registration is strongly encouraged. Guests can PRE-REGISTER online ahead of their visit to help ensure a smooth arrival experience. Increased attendance is expected throughout the day.
