Dark upper bodies with a white side stripe and bright splashes of red on the belly and legs
Diet
Omnivores that primarily eat fruits, nuts, seeds and bark, but will occasionally eat insects and bird eggs
Reproduction & Lifespan
Breed year round, with mothers birthing up to 3 babies per litter. Will live 5 to 7 years in the wild, and up to 10 years in captivity.
Fantastic Fact
Typically the bright colors on jungle residents act as a warning to predators, but the Prevost's Squirrel is not poisonous. Scientists propose that the bright colors may help them see each other in dense foliage.
