Elmwood Park Zoo’s mission is to inspire its guests to take an active role in larger efforts to preserve the Earth’s wildlife and natural resources. The Zoo participates in a number of programs and initiatives that not only save wildlife but also teach others how they can help prevent species extinction and resource depletion.
 

Animal Management Programs

As a facility accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA), the Elmwood Park Zoo participates in Species Survival Plan programs that aim to support animal populations whose existences have been severely threatened.

Endangered Animals

Elmwood Park Zoo exhibits a selection of animals whose populations are endangered in the wild. By caring for these animals, the Zoo supports their population’s growth and creates awareness about their fight to survive.
